The importance of safety at the Vertical Challenge

The third annual Bob Aamodt, Inc. Vertical Challenge will take place Feb. 26, 2010 at Snowbasin on a closed course that’s serviced by the Wildcat Triple lift.

In years past the Vertical Challenge ski and snowboarders shared the slopes with other patrons. But this year, we’ll be all on our own.

This will help us support our efforts to claim a world record for the most vertical feet skied and snowboarded in six hours. We’re out to set world records in three categories: 1) individual, 2) team of four, and 3) group. So everyone who participates, even if they don’t set an individual or team record, will contribute to the overall group record.

Having the run to ourselves will also help ski patrol and volunteers working the Challenge to be most effective.

Previous events were short, three-hour events. The 2010 Vertical Challenge is spread out over a six hour period to help us clock the most vertical feet for the world record and to make the Challenge more about endurance than speed.

You’ve got until the end of the day on Feb. 24 to register for the third annual Bob Aamodt, Inc. Vertical Challenge.

We do hope you’ll lend your support to the Trapper Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America and come join us on Feb. 26!
